At PALS Chess Academy SUPER-FUN Chess Camps, we know how to make chess FUN. With a unique, world-class camp curriculum created by National Masters and 13-time Colorado State Chess Champions, Griffin and Sullivan McConnell, your child will be immersed in a one-week, interactive chess adventure! Each camp is divided into three separate sections:
Beginners – Players who are just starting out, or players who know how the pieces move but are still learning all the ins, outs and strategies of the game.
Intermediate players – Players who know how to play an entire game and may have some familiarity with how to checkmate. These players might also know a few tactics and plans but need developing!
Advanced players – USCF-rated and/or chess tournament playing, seasoned players – players who have played in rated tournaments and are looking for a super-charged, super-challenging camp with expert/master-level classes and tutorials.
Our exciting summer chess camps include:
Chess Team Relays – We have multiple team relay chess competitions that will require children to work in teams to solve chess puzzles BUT also include a fun physical “mystery” challenge.
Blindfold Chess – Children will get the opportunity to play chess blindfolded using a special chess board for the blind!
Nerf-gun Chess Marksmanship Battles – Campers will have the opportunity to shoot targets and spinning balls with different Nerf guns after answering multiple chess-related questions and solving puzzles.
Timed, Tactical Chess Challenges – individual and team chess challenges where campers compete to solve the most chess challenges in the least amount of time including “Fork Frenzy”, “Pin it to Win it” and many more!
Exciting Chess Game Variants – campers will get to play new, super-fun chess variants like “Pawn Parade”, “Battleship Chess”, “Clone Wars” and more!
All of our camps feature the most knowledgeable chess coaches in Colorado with years of camp coaching experience! Our summer chess coach staff boasts three National Masters with a combined 18 Colorado State Chess Championship titles between them. We follow a strict 8:1 student-to-coach ratio, so every camper gets the individual attention they need.
