Grades

St. Mary’s Academy is Denver’s premier independent, Catholic coeducational PreK-8 and all-girls High School, established in 1864, by the Sisters of Loretto. Our Loretto School Values of faith, community, justice, and respect inspire us to do great work for each other and the world.

St. Mary’s Academy provides a values-based, purpose-driven education in a caring and secure setting. Students learn how to think, not just what to think, with a rigorous program that encourages respectful discourse.

Pre-Kindergarten to Grade is coeducational, while our high school is all-girls. Students across the metro area represent many religious and ethnic backgrounds—creating a vibrant community of collaboration, discovery, and unity.

In Lower School, children explore through social-emotional and authentic learning, including an introduction to design thinking. In Middle School, pre-adolescent learners connect and discover identity through service within the local community and cultivating passion areas. In High School, young women evolve to trust their own voices, delve deeply into advanced-level coursework and service learning, and leave with a purpose as agents of change.

Academics
Our STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) curriculum is integrated into every grade level. When students have opportunities to learn through a robust STEAM curriculum, they become much-needed compassionate, purposeful, and solution-oriented innovators of tomorrow.

Athletics
Our Middle School and High School students are challenged every day through our robust athletic program. Through competition, students develop leadership, self-awareness, personal growth, and positive sportsmanship. Middle School competitive sports include cross country, field hockey, volleyball, soccer, tennis, basketball, baseball, and lacrosse. High School competitive sports includes cross country, field hockey, softball, volleyball, basketball, swimming/diving, golf, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, and track and field. We are proud that our Golf Team has won two consecutive state championships in 2021 and 2022.

Arts
Creativity, imagination, and excellence are at the heart of education at St. Mary’s Academy. Students engage in performing and visual arts every day. Our goal is to help students build technique and aesthetic awareness as well as grow their critical thinking and problem-solving  skills in ways that extend beyond the classroom.

Service Learning
The service program at St. Mary’s Academy is a core component of our values-based education across all grades and divisions. In the Lower School, service learning is achieved through collection drives, assemblies, nonprofits adopted by grade levels, and whole-school challenges. In Middle School, Community Action Teams perform work in the community throughout the year. The High School sponsors an outreach club and a service day, and every High School student performs 100 hours of independent long-term service with one of 120 nonprofit organizations before graduation.
